Based on the agreement, the "Shizuoka autonomous driving ShowCASE Project" was launched aiming to resolve regional transportation issues.
On the other hand, the city of Fukuroi has positioned the Aino area, centered by Ecopa (Ogasayama Sports Park), as a demonstration field to realize the near future technologies. It is implementing the "Ecopa Dream Project" with the aim of promoting innovation in existing industries and the city through new encounters between people and technologies.
These two projects collaborated to conduct the first proof-of-concept in 2018.

Result of introducing HD map
We have confirmed that the point cloud data of more than 1,000 km held by Shizuoka Prefecture meets the requirements to create High-Precision 3D Map data(HD Map). At the same time, our High-Precision 3D Map data(HD Map) contributed to success of the proof-of-concept for the autonomous driving at public roads and to prove that private companies can make use of the data owned by the prefecture.
Based on this case study, we will continue to promote autonomous driving technology as a potential solution to regional issues such as transportation of tourists during events, easing traffic congestion, resolving shopping refugees, and the problem of crew shortage in public transportation.
